Social Studies

The Social Studies Department reflects our community’s belief that an understanding of the past and an ability to empathize with people from different cultures are an essential part of being a responsible citizen.

This is especially true in our ever-changing and increasingly interdependent world. Student engagement with social studies fosters the development of vital skills, including the ability to think and read critically, conduct scholarly research, communicate clearly and persuasively, and effectively work in groups.  Therefore, we provide a four-year program for all students. Students are required to earn three credits in Social Studies, including Social Studies 9, United States History, and Civics.
