School Counseling
Comprehensive School Counseling is planned and proactive. It addresses the needs of students by focussing on:
- Personal/Social
- Academic
- College/Career
HVRHS counselors have created specific lessons that are taught through classroom and group activities in grades 9-12. We also meet individually with students to assist them in their pursuit of academic success, help them set goals, and guide them as they plan for life after high school. When immediate needs and concerns arise, we provide responsive services through counseling, consulting, and referral.
A School Counselor Impacts Student Success by:
- ADVOCATING for student needs
- ELIMINATING barriers to achievement
- DELIVERING a planned, proactive curriculum at all grade levels
- USING data to inform interventions
- COLLABORATING and consulting with educational stakeholders
- PROVIDING individual planning services for all students
- CONNECTING students with school and community resources
