LIBRARY:
The Library will be closing at 3:30 pm each day until further notice.
Region One Board Of Education Meetings
:
September 13th in the HVRHS Library @ 6:00pm
October 4th in the HVRHS Library @ 6:00pm
November 1st in the HVRHS Library @ 6:00pm
December 6th in the HVRHS Library @ 6:00pm
ARTGARAGE:
The artgarage will open on Monday, September 13th. Students will need to turn in a signed permission slip to attend the artgarage. Permission forms are available in the main office. The artgarage is open 3:00 pm to 5:15 pm Monday through Thursday when we have a late bus.
SENIOR PORTRAITS:
Yearbook senior portrait makeup sessions are scheduled for Friday, September 10th, Monday, September 13th and Tuesday, September 14th. Any seniors who are new to Housatonic should see Ms. McLeod (room 117) to schedule an appointment.
Appropriate dressed is required-no hats, tank tops, low cut blouses, etc.
PICTURE RETAKES:
ID and Underclassmen Picture retakes will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Seniors should also have their ID's photos taken, these are different from the senior portraits. Students who plan to order pictures MUST have the form with them and hand it to the photographer when they get the pictures taken.
OPEN HOUSE:
Open House will be held at the High School on Thursday, September 16th from 6:45 pm - 9:00 pm. You should receive a mailing during the second week of school with more information.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES:
The dates for conferences are Wednesday, October 13th and Thursday, October 21st. The scheduling of the conferences will be done on our website www.hvrhs.org Parents and Guardians will need to log onto our website and follow the links. If you do not have access to a computer, we have computers in our Guidance department, Library and Career Center or you may go to any public library and access our website. You should receive a mailing during the second week of school with more information and the opening date to start registering.
FROM THE CAFETERIA:
Congratulations to our students on an awesome start in the cafeteria. You have earned your first outdoor lunch tomorrow, enjoy.
ENVIROTHON:
Interested in the Environment? Then you are invited to come join the Housatonic Envirothon Team on Thursday afternoons from at 2:45 in room 362! The Envirothon is North America's largest environmental competition for students interested in forest ecology, wildlife biology, soil science, and aquatics. This year's special theme is protecting our nation's estuaries. Hope to see you this Thursday!
STUDY HALL:
The cafeteria study hall that meets right after the lunch block is going to meet in Room 133 until further notice.
MODEL UN:
This year the Model UN will meet after school on Thursdays from 2:30 pm - 3:15 pm in room 353. The first meeting is this Thursday, September 9. I look forward to seeing everyone!
CHINA TRIP:
Go to China with HVRHS! The trip will take place from April 9th - 22nd, 2010. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible. Please see Mrs. Carter for more information.

Jazz Band auditions are Tuesday, 9/7/2010 after school.
Night Choir auditions are Wednesday, 9/8/2010 starting at 3:45 pm.
Make up auditions are Thursday, 9/9/2010 after school.
You must be in a music class in order to audition. Signups are in the music room.
ACADEMIC BOWL:
Attention Jeopardy fans; here is your chance to show what you know. The Academic Bowl Team will hold their first practice of the year on Thursday, September 9th at 2:20 pm in room 354. All Are Welcome-especially freshman!!!!!
LOST AND FOUND:
Money was found by Ms. Lloyd in the café. See Mr. Bayersdorfer to make your claim.
TRAVEL ... TRAVEL ... TRAVEL ...
Travel and learn along the way! All students interested in traveling to Switzerland and Italy next summer should see Mr. DeMazza in room 125 today!
GIRLS SOCCER:
The Kent Bus for Girls Soccer on September 11th will need to be for 1:00 p.m. instead of 12:00 pm. The scrimmage will be starting at 2:00 p.m. instead of 1:00 p.m.
Faculty and Staff:
We are continuing with Dress Down Day: This Friday dress down day will help support the Jane Lloyd Foundation-which is a local foundation to help those who need financial help while undergoing cancer treatment. Each week we ask that you donate $2.00 or whatever monetary amount you would like to contribute. Your donations may be given to Mrs. Wood in the APO or Mrs. Lang. Hope you will join us in donating to all these worthy causes this year.
BLOOD DRIVE:
Attention seniors: Our two Red Cross Blood drives this year are an opportunity for you to possibly earn Scholarship money. Your participation in the running of the drive is part of the criteria of the scholarship-our first drive is next Friday, September 17th. Recruitment meeting will be in Room 352 at 2:30 pm this Friday, September 10th. See you there.
